Shot counter for Garmin watches

Every round. Counted from your wrist.

Recoil counts your shots from the recoil, scores how steady you held before each one, times your splits and strings, and keeps the round count, ammo and cost of every gun.

How it counts

Shoot. The watch keeps count.

Every shot jolts your wrist. Recoil reads that jolt from the watch's accelerometer at the highest rate the watch gives and counts it, so your hands stay on the gun.

  1. Wear it on your shooting hand

Pick the gun and start a session. The ring around the edge fills with each round in the magazine.

  2. Shoot

Count, split between the last two shots and the magazine on one screen. BACK starts a new magazine; UP and DOWN fix a missed or extra shot.

  3. Confirm the count

Before saving, enter the rounds you really fired. Recoil shows how many it detected, so you see how well it counts with your gun.

Stability

How still was your hold?

From the gyroscope, Recoil scores how still your wrist was in the second before every shot, 0 to 100, right under the count.

  • Average and best stability for every session
  • Heart rate at every shot: see how fast you settle after moving
  • Needs a watch with a gyroscope; without one Recoil counts and times just the same

Shot timer & drills

Random beep. Beat the par.

Press START and the watch beeps and vibrates after a random 2 to 4 seconds, strong enough to feel through ear protection. First shot, total time and rounds for every string; a drill ends at its last round and turns green when you made the par.

Summary details: average split, best stability 94, gun total 4 712, cost 17.50 €, ammo left 330

Sensor test

Tune it at the range.

Every gun, wrist and grip kicks differently. The sensor test shows the strength of each recoil against the threshold, without recording anything.

  • Shots light up yellow, reloads and racking the slide stay gray
  • UP and DOWN change the sensitivity, 1 to 9, saved per gun
  • Sample rate and live stability on the same screen
Sensor test: 100 Hz, 4 shots, sensitivity 5 of 9, recoil peaks against the threshold

Trend

Are you getting faster?

History → Trend shows the last 10 sessions of each gun on four pages: average split, stability, best first shot and best split.

  • The newest value big, with its change against your earlier average
  • Green when you got better, red when you slipped
  • A line through the last 10 sessions, the newest point in brass
Pistol trend: average split 0.25, 0.04 faster than the average, the line falling over 8 sessions

Garmin Connect

A Shooting activity, every session.

Sessions are saved to Garmin Connect as Shooting with heart rate; each magazine or string is a lap, and the numbers are in the activity summary.

FAQ

Questions

Which watches does it run on?

About 70 recent Garmin watches: Forerunner, fēnix, epix, Enduro, Venu, vívoactive, Instinct, quatix, tactix, D2 and more. Stability needs a gyroscope; on watches without one Recoil counts and times the same.

How accurate is the count?

It depends on the gun, your grip and which wrist wears the watch. That is why you confirm the real count before saving: Recoil shows detected against real for every session, and the sensitivity can be tuned per gun in the sensor test.

Does it work with rifles and shotguns?

Yes, each has its own profile and sensitivity. With long guns the recoil goes mostly into the shoulder, so the trigger hand moves less; tune the sensitivity in the sensor test.

Can I use it in competition?

Recoil is a training tool. Some rulebooks do not allow connected watches on the firing line; always follow the match rules, the range rules and your range officer.

Does it need my phone?

No. Everything runs on the watch; the activity syncs to Garmin Connect as usual.

What data does it collect?

None. Your sessions stay on the watch, and Garmin saves the activity to your own Garmin Connect account.

Which languages?

The watch app is in English, Slovak, Czech, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish and Dutch, following the watch language.
